Aunjanue Ellis

Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, an American screen and stage actress who is best recognized for her roles in films in Ray Undercover Brother and on the tv show The Mentalist. She received a Bachelor of Arts in African-American Studies at Brown University as well as a Masters in Fine Arts in Acting from the Tisch School for the Art New York University. Aunjanue Lisa Ellis is a writer and American actress active in theatre, television and film. She began her acting career in theater and later appeared in several TV shows and independent as well as mainstream movies. Her most well-known roles were as Miranda Shaw (ABC's Quantico) as well as in BET's huge The Book of Negroes. The two series garnered critical acclaim, but she also received a number of prizes. She began her career as an actor in the year 1995, when she appeared as Ariel on the stage in The Tempest. The actress has appeared in Broadway as a part of Come and Gone, A Winter's Tale, Drowning Crow and Seeking the Genesis. Her film work is highlighted by her performances on Men of Honor The Caveman's Valentine The Express, and The Help. Her role as a regular on ABC's drama-police series High Incident earned her praises.
